About Brad
I’ve spent most of my life in the car business, and here’s a quick summary of
how I got here.
Back in high school, like many kids my age, I was usually under my car trying to get it running — often missing out on Saturday night fun. Choosing auto shop my senior year was a natural fit. Out of the entire class, I was one of two students awarded a scholarship to the GM Training Center, where I trained to become a certified auto technician.
After graduation, I started as a lot porter at an Oldsmobile–Subaru dealership. Within six months, I was promoted to Subaru technician, replacing the only technician they had. (Turns out he was once caught trying to true-up brake rotors with a metal file — on a hoist — with the engine running. I kid you not.)
I started with a small toolbox but quickly built it up thanks to weekly visits from the Snap-on truck. I worked on Subarus for a couple of years in the late ’70s, but eventually realized I enjoyed restoring my own cars more than repairing other people’s.
I moved into the parts department, then into sales — a role that became my primary career for most of my life. In the early ’90s, when the internet arrived, I built the dealership’s first website with the owner’s permission. That led to building sites for several other dealerships before I was pulled back into the automobile business as technology advanced faster than small operations could keep up with.
Over the years, I worked my way up through the ranks and eventually became a General Sales Manager. Even while working in sales, I never lost my passion for older cars. I’ve always had a classic car in my garage, and that passion continues today.
After decades in the industry, there’s very little that surprises me anymore about the car business. With that background, I’m happy to answer any questions you might have — whether it’s about buying, selling, or anything else related to cars.
